From spring to winter: A complete guide to caring for outdoor blinds
External blinds are not only an effective means of regulating light and heat in the interior, but also an aesthetic addition to the facade. To ensure that they serve you as long as possible and without problems, it is important to give them regular care tailored to the individual seasons.

Spring: Prepare your blinds for the most important season
After winter, it is the best time to clean the blinds of dirt deposits. For cleaning, we use common household products such as soap, dishwashing liquid, and warm water up to a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius. We completely avoid chemical agents such as thinners, solvents, or other abrasive cleaning agents.
How to clean exterior blinds?
You can try this procedure:
- Lower the blinds to a vertical position and rinse them with water. You can also use a garden hose, but be careful that the running water does not dirty the facade. A steam cleaner will also do the job well.
- Next, clean the guide rails and each slat individually. All you need is a regular cloth or dish sponge. Wipe each slat with a single stroke if possible and repeat the process until the blinds are completely clean.
- For heavier soiling, first use soapy water, leave it to work for a while to dissolve the dirt, and then proceed in the same way.
- Finally, rinse the blinds with water and leave them to dry naturally.

Have your blinds checked by a pro
If you want to be sure that your blinds will work without any problems throughout the summer season, when you need them most, take advantage of our new service revitalization service. A technician will check the key components on site and, if necessary, repair or replace them on the spot.
Summer: How to prevent the interior from overheating?
During the summer months, the correct setting of external blinds is key to maintaining a comfortable temperature indoors and reducing the need for air conditioning. The most effective approach is to lower the blinds completely during the day, i.e., set the slats to a horizontal or slightly slanted position so that the sun's rays do not penetrate inside, but at the same time sufficient ventilation and daylight are ensured.
Autumn: Prevention against adverse weather
Autumn weather often brings stronger winds, which can damage outdoor blinds. Therefore, when stronger winds are forecast, we recommend either raising the blinds completely or setting them to the closed position, where the slats fit tightly together and move less. If you are often away from home, a simple rule can help: always raise the blinds before you leave.

Winter: Caution against frost
During winter, blinds are particularly at risk of freezing. Before using them, it is therefore important to check that the slats are not frozen in the guide rails or to the window sill. If this is the case, we must carefully remove the frost, or preferably not touch them until the frost has melted. It is best not to clean them in winter, as water could quickly freeze on the slats. Regularly remove any accumulated snow from the slats, as this could damage the blinds.
